Unicorn School, founded in 1970 by a collection of parents and educators, is a prep school that caters to both boys and girls aged three to eleven. The school, independent, non-denominational and co-educational, is nestled opposite the Kew Botanical Gardens. It offers a welcoming, inventive and dynamic setting for learning with a small class size. Generally, there is one entry form for each year with typically no more than 22 students. At present, several second-generation Unicorns are studying at the school.

Personalized learning approach aids not only the more skilled but also those who might struggle, through separate reading and maths groups. They not only adhere to all areas of the National Curriculum, but also go beyond, providing opportunities for every child to discover their unique talents. They provide a wide curriculum that comprises computing, science, music, creative arts, French, and PE. All of these subjects are taught by specialist teachers, often in small group settings. Designated times are set each day for reflection and the enhancement of cognitive abilities. 'Brain Time' is set for Years 3 and 4, while Years 5 and 6 partake in philosophy classes.

Unicorn School promotes non-academic activities, allocating Thursday afternoons for extracurricular clubs that offer activities like golf, riding, pottery, and gardening for children in Years 3 to 6. Their after-school programs also feature clubs for chess, karate, musical theatre, French, touch typing, sports, and swimming. Each term, students are also involved in excursions related to their class projects, which often involve visits to museums and theaters. Moreover, Junior students embark on yearly residential field trips in areas such as Surrey, Devon, and Cumbria.
