The Victoria Shanghai Academy Admission Process is as mentioned below:-

• 1. Admissions Criteria
• In accordance with VSA PIS service agreement, VSA is obliged to ensure 70% of places are reserved for Hong Kong Permanent Residents. The students must be Hong Kong Permanent Residents or Residents with a valid Hong Kong visa stamp, in compliance with Hong Kong Law. Factors of consideration for admissions:
• a. In Chinese and English communication skills (For Y1-2 applicants, in at least one language students must demonstrate strength (Chinese or English), necessary to build VSA bilingual foundation).
• b. For Y2-Y11 applications, entrance assessment results of languages (reading and literacy skills in both Chinese and English) and Mathematics.
• c. Others such as critical thinking, logical response, etc. to see the right profile if applicants have in learning to be active partners who to VSA learning community will positively contribute.
• d. From previous schools reference, such as school reports, school reference letter, Victoria Kindergarten survey form.
• Admission procedures are tailored to different age groups across the school.
• 2. Admissions Priority
• In the case of candidates of similar calibre, the parties who have strong bonding with the VSA community the considerations may be given to them, such as but not limited to:
• a. Nominees of debenture holders.
• b. Nominees of school board members.
• c. Children of VSA staff.
• d. Siblings of VSA students.
• e. Students from our feeder kindergartens.
• f. Child of alumni.
• 3. Procedure
• Year 1
• a. Applications for Year One admissions are accepted from September each year. In January to February of the preceding year e.g. 18 January 2024 for 2025 to 26 admission the parent information evening is.
• b. The deadline for application is February in the same year as the parent information evening e.g. 1 February 2024 for 2025 to 26 admission.
• c. No late applications will be accepted, unless in the case of debenture holders.
• d. Priority is given to student applicants from Victoria kindergartens or debenture holders.
• e. New students entering Victoria Kindergartens K3 are also eligible to apply for admissions to Year 1 (for the following academic year). However, the applicants will only be notified for acceptance when a vacancy arise.
• f. Students that miss the original interview because of illness with a medical certificate submitted may be interviewed in the following weeks.
• i. Following the interviews, there will be four categories:
• 1. Acceptance.
• 2. Students to be given second interview to be held in June or September. To siblings and/or debenture holders the second interviews will only be offered. In September at the interviews, K3 classes the students that have entered and late debenture holders will also be interviewed.
• 3. Waitlist.
• 4. Decline.
• Year 2-11
• School Campus Tours
• For prospective parents and students introductory meetings are organized on selected dates during the academic year. For parents' booking online schedule is available. In each schedule event there will be a guided school tour and Q&A session.
• Application
• With the following online application can be submitted:
• a. A passport size of applicant’s photo.
• b. A copy of applicant’s HKID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport (for a non-local child, please also provide a copy of the Immigration Endorsement on his/her passport showing the expiry date of visa/entry permit).
• c. A copy of the applicant’s report cards for the last two years.
• d. Non-refundable application fee of HK$1000.
• Entrance Assessment
• If a school place is available the applicants will be invited to an interview.
• Year 2-Year 11
• For Chinese language, English language and mathematics the applicants need to take written assessments. In English and Putonghua they also need to attend interviews. Based on written assessment results, on a latter date the shortlisted students’ parents (PYP, MYP, DP) will be invited to attend a more in-depth parent meeting with a member of the Senior Management Team.
• 4. Application Results
• Within 4 weeks from the assessment the application results are released and/or parent interview date (whichever is later) and into any one of the following categories will fall:
• a. Acceptance.
• b. Second interview (in the case of primary application).
• c. Waitlist.
• d. Decline.
• 5. How to Apply
• With the following online applications must be submitted:
• a. A passport size photo of the applicant.
• b. A copy of applicant’s Birth Certificate.
• c. A copy of applicant’s HKID Card / Passport (for a non-local child, please also provide a copy of the Immigration Endorsement on his/her passport showing the expiry date of visa/entry permit).
