Established in 1971, Wellow House School was initially housed in the kitchen and sitting room of the Forbes family's Ravenscar residence, situated atop Robin Hood's Bay scar. Robin Forbes escorted twelve students to this picturesque location in Nottinghamshire, while their parents looked for an appropriate place to relocate. The family house and smallholding evolved into the school it is today over the course of the last 40 years. The population increased swiftly, and in ten years there were 140 boys. After that, in the early 1980s, the school became coeducational, and in 1986, "Pre-Prep" was added.
Each student is at the centre of their educational vision, which is realised in a cheerful, creative, and familial environment. Children thrive in all aspects of their school lives because of the Wellow House School's extraordinary caring and upbeat atmosphere. Academic studies, athletics, music, art, and a broad education are all balanced to allow each child to find their unique strengths and talents and to best prepare them for their futures. The goal of Wellow House School is to give every student a well-rounded education so they can maximise their potential both inside and outside of the school.
