Westminster School was founded back in 1560. Latin and Greek were the primary subjects included in the curriculum up to the 19th century, and they were all taught at school.Westminster boys officially attend their first coronation in 1685. The Scholars move into the new dormitory that Lord Burlington designed in 1731. Girls first joined the school as full members in 1973. In honour of the 450th anniversary of the Royal Charter's issuance, Queen Elizabeth II visits the school and dedicates a statue of Queen Elizabeth I created by artist Matthew Spender.
