The school hopes to do this through removing obstacles to participation and learning. It desires for all students to experience a sense of belonging to the school community. Schools respect that children have a variety of learning needs and aspirations, as well as different educational and behavioural needs and aspirations. They also recognise that children learn, assimilate, and communicate information at varying rates and require a variety of teaching methods and experiences. Teachers respond to students' needs by: - supporting students who need assistance with communication, language, and literacy; - planning to develop students' understanding through the use of multi-sensory strategies and of varied experiences; - planning for students' full participation in learning, as well as in physical and practical activities; - assisting students in managing their emotions, particularly trauma or stress, and to participate in learning. The special education needs and disability policy and practise at WISE has the following objectives: - To adhere to the standards outlined in the UAE Ministry regulations. - To create appropriate accommodations for persons with a handicap by improving everyone's access to the environment, the curriculum, and printed materials; To have high expectations for all of our students and remove obstacles to their success; - To ensure that the special educational needs of children are recognised, assessed, and met; - To ensure that all students with SEN participate in school activities alongside students who do not have SEN; - To identify the roles and responsibilities of staff in meeting children's special educational needs, in recognition that all teachers are teachers of special educational needs. - To work cooperatively with the Local Authority and other outside agencies and to make clear the expectations of all partners in the process of meeting the needs of all vulnerable learners. In order for all students to fully access all aspects of the school curriculum, for parents to be able to participate in their child's education, and for our children to have a voice in this process, it is the responsibility of the class teachers to ensure that class teaching has taken into consideration the needs of all students.
