On January 2, 1998, the school welcomed its first class of 395 Secondary One students. There were a total of ten classes with a total of fifteen teachers. The student body has grown to 1300 pupils, with 84 teaching staff. Due to its location in the rapidly expanding Woodlands housing estate, the school served as a holding school for several other schools, including Woodlands Ring Primary School from January to July 1998, Evergreen Primary School from January to March 1999, Sembawang Secondary School, and Orchid Park Secondary School from January to August 1999.
