Yirara College was established in 1973 as a government secondary residential institution and changed its name to the Lutheran Church of Australia College in 1993. Yirara College is a government secondary residential college that was founded in 1973. It was supported by the government assistance program, especially for traditionally oriented Aboriginal students living in remote central Australia's Aboriginal communities. When the College first opened, its primary goal was to provide Aboriginal students with an educational experience that would help them integrate into western culture by exposing them to social development.
