On August 28, 1980, Mr. Ho Kah Leong, the Jurong MP, gave Yuan Ching Secondary School its official opening as an integrated English and Chinese school. When the last group of students enrolled in the Chinese medium graduated in 1987, the school switched to English, and from 1988 to 1990 it operated as a pre-university center for Arts and Commerce courses. The school's founding principal, Mr. Chou We Chuan, also wrote the words of the school hymn and came up with the school motto.
Children are resilient and hardworking examples of the school's motto, "Efforts Today, Rewards Tomorrow." As they develop into the embodiment of our mission of "A Thinker, an Achiever, and a Concerned Citizen," they exemplify our key values of Integrity, Excellence, Compassion, Enterprise, and Loyalty (IExCEL).
