Tuan Cheng Public School, which includes both primary and senior levels, was founded as Shuqun Senior School in 1925. After relocating to its current location at Jalan Seh Chuan, the school changed its name to Seh Chuan School in 1933. To accommodate an increasing student population, the school changed its name to Seh Chuan High School in 1958 and became a government-aided institution. Shuqun's Chinese name was maintained. In 1982, it underwent a conversion to become a government school to meet the demands of the growing student body. To mark the change in its status as a government school, the school adopted the Hanyu Pinyin of its Chinese name, "Shuqun," in 1985. It moved to the location at Jurong East Street 21 in the same year.
At 35 Jurong West Street 41, Yuhua Secondary School was founded in 1986 as a government coeducational school and opened its doors on September 16, 1988. The institution had achieved several firsts, such as being among the first to implement computer-based instruction and host a cultural night in the World Trade Center. In its early years, the school was well-known for its concert, hockey, and harmonica bands. Due to its consistently high performance, the school received formal MOE recognition as a specialized school for concert band in 2006.
