GMAT is a computer-adaptive multiple-choice standardized test used in the admissions process for business schools. The Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal parts of the GMAT test are all timed individually. The test lasts around 2 hours and 45 minute altogether, with two optional eight-minute breaks in between. The GMAT test score remains valid for up to five years. You can take GMAT once in every 16 days but not more than five times in 12 months.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates who wish to appear for GMAT must qualify the eligibility criteria first, which is-

• Age limit- candidates appearing for the test must be 18 years or above.
• Academic qualification- the candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from any university to apply for the admission in MBA.
• Number of attempts- a candidate is eligible to appear for the test up to 8 times but there should be a gap of 16 days between two tests.

GMAT syllabus

Analytical writing assessment

The writing skills test is designed to test the ability of a student to develop, oversee, illustrate and communicate ideas in written English. 

Verbal ability

This section is constructed to assess the verbal abilities of a student to read, evaluate and analyze the given passage.

Integrated reasoning

This section is designed to test the capability of the student to integrate data given in the format of graphs, charts, tables and solving question problems.

Quantitative aptitude

In this section the candidate has to solve the given mathematical problems based on data-sufficiency and problem solving questions.

Registration, exam date, and result date

The registration for the GMAT opens up 5 times in a year so you keep a check on the dates. The GMAT is conducted five times in a year which leaves you with many attempts to give the exam and concentrate on your GMAT test prep accordingly. The candidates can choose the date as per their GMAT preparation and the result is declared 20 days after taking the test.
