Admission Requirements for Australian Universities

English Language Requirements-

Work While Studying In Australia

Student visas in Australia have updated as of July 1, 2016.  According to the current guidelines, students traveling to Australia on Visa Subclass 500 are permitted to work up to 40 hours a fortnight when the course is in session and an infinite number of hours while the course is not in session (during breaks). The only stipulation is that the individual cannot begin working before the course begins.

There are some points that international students must keep in mind before applying for work while studying:

• Students cannot work until the session begins.
• This cap would not apply if casework is a regular part of the instruction of the course on which the student is enrolled. This is generally true in the case of necessary internships as part of a blended course.
• When the dissertation study or doctoral thesis starts, students in the Post Graduate Research Sector can work for an infinite number of hours. In addition, if the student has participated in any preliminary classes, he or she is entitled to work under the 40-hour-per-fortnight provision described above.
• Students who have completed their Australian studies may apply for a Post Study Work Permit under the Graduate Stream. Students studying in an ELICOS, on the other hand, are not eligible to qualify for a Post Study Work Permit in Australia.
