Chung - Ang University History
Chung - Ang University is one of Seoul, South Korea's leading research-based Korean private universities. There are two different campuses in the university. Starting in 1918 as a church-run kindergarten, CAU transformed in 1922 into a school for female kindergarten teachers and was awarded university status in 1953. It has 33,600 undergraduates, 5,200 graduates, 700 teachers, and an additional 500 part-time teachers. Established in 1918, CAU has endured its "Truth and Justice" ideal through the painful course of modern history in Korea. CAU has since assumed a leading role in nurturing the nation's intellectuals.
