Emory University is a private research university in metropolitan Atlanta, located in Georgia, United States of America. It was founded as Emory College in 1836 and was named after Methodist bishop John Emory. Emory Healthcare is the largest healthcare system in the state of Georgia and comprises seven major hospitals, including the globally renowned Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtwon. The university operates the Winship Cancer Institiue, Yerkes National Primate Research Center. and other disease and vaccine research centers.
The university comprises of 9 schools and colleges: Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Oxford College, Goizueta Business School, School of Nursing, School of Graduate Studies, School of Law, School of Medicine, Rollins School of Public Health and Candler School of Theology.
