Federal University of ABC History
Founded in 2006, the Science and Technology Focus of ABC Federal University (UFABC), based in Sao Paolo, Brazil. It contains three values - interdisciplinarity, excellence, defined as rigor, and creativity and social inclusion. UFABC is the only institution in Brazil that only hires Ph.D. academics. In 2011, UFABC was the country's only university with an impact factor above the world average in scientific publications. The university is involved in research with the Large Hadron Collider and the European Nuclear Research Organization, collaborating with, among other research institutes, the Max Planck Institute, Paris Sud 11 University, the Australian National Acoustic Laboratories and the National Institute for Materials Science in Japan.
