Leiden University is a Public research university which was established in the year 1575 and is located in Leiden. The university is the oldest university in the Netherlands and has also expanded to the city Hague and occupies a number of buildings in the historic center of the city including a college building in Lange Voorhout.
Leiden University has the following six faculties in Leiden campus and one faculty in Hague campus: Faculty of Archeology, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Medicine / LUMC, Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The university has three Interfaculty institutes such as African Studies Center, Honors Academy, and Interfaculty Center for Teacher Training, Educational Development and Training (ICLON). The university comprises a Summer School which offers a unique range of summer courses and lets the students broaden their knowledge or share their expertise with fellow students.
