Tel Aviv University History
Tel Aviv University also known as TAU is a public research university based in Tel Aviv, Israel. It is the largest university in Israel and the biggest Jewish university in the world. The university was established in 1956 after the merger of the Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics, the Institute of Natural Sciences, and the Institute of Jewish Studies. Initially managed by the Tel Aviv municipality, the university was granted autonomous status in 1963.
