Tohoku University is a public university which was established in 1907. The university is located in Sendai, Miyagi in the Tohoku Region, Japan. It was the third Imperial University in Japan and is one of the National Seven Universities. It is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Japan, and one of the top fifty universities in the world.
Tohoku University comprises fifteen faculties; Faculty of Arts and Letters, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Information and Intelligent Systems, Faculty of Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering, Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Faculty of Agriculture. The university also has 15 graduate schools and 3 professional graduate schools such as; Law School, School of Public Policy, and Accounting School. The university also has a research center for prediction of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
