Asia Hoile

DPhil interdisciplinary Biosciences DTP Candidate at the University of Oxford

Asia Hoile is a DPhil interdisciplinary Biosciences DTP Candidate at the University of Oxford. She has just submitted her thesis titled "New genes for new biology in animal evolution" and has published her research in journals such as BMC Genomics. She specialises in evolutionary developmental genetics and bioinformatics, with a specific interest in animal evolution. As the first in her family to attend university she is highly passionate about improving accessibility to higher education and STEM in general. As such she has recently been awarded the Doctoral Training Centre Public Engagement award 2025 for her outreach work through collaboration with multiple organisations to engage others with the importance of scientific research.
