Participants will also learn how to find credible academic sources and get a preview of what a successful research project looks like.

Know about our Speaker

Sarah Carlo

Program Director, US Partnerships; PhD from the University of Cambridge

Sarah Carlo is the Program Director for US Partnerships at Horizon Academic Research Program. She holds a PhD and MPhil in Criminology from University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on connecting high school students with university researchers and guiding them through independent research projects. She has also taught and supervised students at Cambridge and contributed to courses at Cambridge Judge Business School.

Josiane Matar

Head of Academics, PhD Candidate at the University of Oxford

Josiane Matar is the Head of Academics at Horizon Academic and a DPhil (PhD) candidate in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford. A Rhodes Scholar representing Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine, she holds a master’s degree in International Public Management from Sciences Po, Paris. Her research focuses on migration and refugee studies, and she is committed to expanding access to academic research opportunities for students worldwid
