Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. The University has roots dating back to 1846 and the original Leeds School of Art. Over the last 170 years, Leeds Arts University has made a significant contribution to arts education in the UK. Over the years, we have taught some very famous names, including Damien Hirst, Barbara Hepworth, and Henry Moore.
Our students enjoy a small, close-knit community in a creative atmosphere where anything feels possible. We believe this is the best environment in which to grow as an artist, designer, musician, or filmmaker. We pride ourselves on our state of the art facilities, winning the WUSCA award for 'Best Facilities' 3 times in the past 6 years. We also believe our attentive student support is what makes us truly unique - winning the top spot for 'Student Support' in the 2020 WUSCA awards.
In 2019, our £22m state-of-the-art building expansion was completed in order to widen our course offering and benefit our students. The new building added to our already extensive array of art facilities and includes a 230-seat performance auditorium and industry-standard film and photography studios, enhanced fashion design studios, a new postgraduate study suite, a larger specialist arts research and reference library.
Leeds Arts University is based in the thriving city of Leeds. Our city is a diverse, creative city in the north of England, just over 2 hours away from London on the train. Our city is very cultured and ideal to study the arts, with theatre, ballet, opera, museums, and galleries for students to gain inspiration from.
