A brief history of St. in George’s University?
Founded as an independent School of Medicine in 1976, St. George’s University opened its doors to students beginning in January 1977. It has evolved into a top center of international education, drawing students and faculty to the Caribbean island of Grenada, in the West Indies. Students attending SGU enjoy the benefits of a thriving multicultural environment on the True Blue campus, offering all the amenities and technologically advanced facilities of a world-class institution.
SGU has contributed over 18,000 physicians to the global physician workforce, with students, graduates, and faculty from over 140 countries. They have practiced in every state in the United States, as well as in more than 50 countries. No other medical school in the world provides more new doctors to the US healthcare system.*
