The Special Higher Education Program grants around $1,200,000 in fellowships to over 400 American Indian and Alaska Native graduate and professional students every year. Graduate fellowships are financial awards are created to American Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional full-time, degree-seeking students, who meet all eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
A student should be pursuing a post-baccalaureate graduate or professional degree as a full-time student at an accredited institution in the U.S.
A student should be able to demonstrate financial need through submission of the AIGC Financial Need Form.
A student must be a registered member of a federally acclaimed American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group OR offer documentation of ancestry to possession of one-fourth degree Indian blood of a federally acclaimed tribe as verified through submission of a Tribal Eligibility Certificate.

The fellowship amount is around $1000 and $5000 per year and may vary from year to year, as per the number of capable students, the availability of funds and unfulfilled financial need.
