University College LondonThe MEng Biomedical Engineering at UCL is a prestigious four-year integrated master's program situated at the heart of London’s medical and innovation hub. UCL’s Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering is internationally renowned, combining rigorous academic learning with applied, research-driven project work. The course is fully accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), satisfying the academic criteria for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
Students benefit from the Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP), which allows them to pursue thematic minors in areas such as entrepreneurship, programming, or languages, supporting interdisciplinary development. Major projects in Years 3 and 4 are often conducted in partnership with London hospitals and cutting-edge research centres, offering unique clinical and industry exposure.

Year 1: Engineering Design Project, Applied Science and Experimentation, Introduction to Engineering Mathematics and Science
Year 2: Programming for Biomedical Engineering, Mathematical Modelling and Analysis II, Applied Tissue Engineering
Year 3: Medical Electronics and Neural Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Research Project in Biomedical Engineering, along with optional modules
Year 4: Materials for Orthopaedic Medical Devices, Frontiers of Bio-Medical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Group Research Project
Individual Research Project: Year 3 project often in collaboration with hospital or UCL research group.
Group Design Project: Year 4 team-based real-world design challenge.
IEP Minors: Tailored skills development in computing, languages, enterprise, or sustainability.
Guest Lectures & Industry Events: Connections with NHS, medtech firms, and academic researchers.

GCSE: English Language and Mathematics at grade C or 4.A-Level: Mathematics and Physics required at grade A. Mathematics and Physics required. Biology acceptable in lieu of Physics, if Physics grade A or 7 achieved at GCSEIB: 38, A total of 18 points overall in three higher level subjects, including grade 6 in Mathematics and Physics, with no higher level score below 5. Biology at Higher Level acceptable in lieu of Physics, if Physics taken at Standard Level.The programme will accept either 'Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches' or 'Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation' at higher level.IELTS: Overall score of 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 in each componentTOEFL: Overall score of 92 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listeningThis MEng is fully accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council and meets the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status without additional qualifications.
