The MA (Hons) in Mediaeval History will teach you to engage with sophisticated modes of thought and expression across mediaeval Europe and the Middle East. You will grapple with complex issues and gain a clear understanding of the historical background which underlies the present day. Students who study Mediaeval History will engage with a wide variety of historical issues and geographic locations to suit different interests, whether that be in early Islamic Iran, the Britons and Saxons, mediaeval political thought, or queenship. The Mediaeval History department at St Andrews is one of the biggest in the UK, and Mediaeval History has been taught at St Andrews for over 50 years.
A minimum average of 90% (with 90% or higher in any prerequisite subjects) in Standard XII examinations, or A1-A2 if you are taking examinations used by Central Boards, SQA Highers: AAAB, GCE A-Levels: AAB, IB points: 36, IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5, TOEFL (IBT) of 92 overall with at least 20 in all components, CAE/CPE of 176, PTE (Academic) of 62 overall with at least 59 in each component
