Program Overview

The MChem (Hons) in Materials Chemistry seeks to understand the interrelationships between the composition, structure, microstructure and properties of matter in order to design and develop new materials for example, semiconductor processing and fabrication; energy and IT; biomaterials; catalyst materials; smart coatings ; and nanotechnology. The MChem allows you to combine undergraduate and postgraduate study into a single five-year programme, graduating with a Masters degree. The course is designed to give you the best possible training for a career in chemistry and is tailored for those intending to enter the professional chemical sector or to carry out postgraduate study upon graduation.

Additional Information & Requirements

A minimum average of 90% (with 90% or higher in any prerequisite subjects) in Standard XII examinations, or A1-A2 if you are taking examinations used by Central Boards, SQA Highers: AAAB, including A in Chemistry, GCE A-Levels: AAB, including A in Chemistry, 35, including HL6 in Chemistry, IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum score of 6.0, TOEFL (IBT) of 92 overall with at least 20 in all components, CAE/CPE of 176, PTE (Academic) of 62 overall with at least 59 in each component
