Accelerated Master's of Nursing

BSC offers an accelerated Master's of Nursing in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After attending BSC for seven semesters -- and with acceptance to the program -- you will begin at the UAB School of Nursing in the spring of your senior year. You'll still graduate with your friends from BSC after completing that first term at UAB.Launched in 2018, the dual degree program gives you a direct path to a graduate degree in nursing and the opportunity to explore other passions. With BSC's new Health Sciences major, which is geared toward students planning a career in nursing and other allied health degrees, you'll experience learning hands-on through internships, travel, mentoring, and service-learning. BSC's Health Professions Advisory Committee is also here to support you on the pathway to your degree.MSN degree programs usually require a full bachelor's degree plus three years of coursework. According to Nurse Journal, MSN holders have better job opportunities, earn higher pay, and are more likely to take on management roles than RNs with only bachelor's degrees. Accelerated programs are rarely available at small, nationally ranked residential liberal arts colleges like Birmingham-Southern. BSC is one of the top 130 private colleges in the country and is known for its strong pre-health program; UAB is the 13th-ranked nursing school, according to U.S. News & World Report.
