Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation across core business areas. You’ll study subjects like Accounting for Decision Making, Introductory Principles of Finance, Economic Essentials for Business, Introduction to Management, Principles of Responsible Business, Marketing Principles, and Statistics for Business. These courses give you a broad understanding of how businesses operate, make decisions, and respond to changing economic environments.

Year 2
The second year is where you start to specialise. You can choose a major that aligns with your interests, or keep exploring multiple areas to see what suits you best. For example, if you pick International Business, you might study International Management, Financial Management for Global Firms, and electives such as Industry & Trade in Southeast Asia.

Year 3
In your final year, everything comes together with a capstone subject that challenges you to apply your knowledge in practical ways. You can also take part in UOW’s Business Internship Program, gaining hands-on experience while earning academic credit.

One of the standout opportunities is the Business Internship Program. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can complete a for-credit internship (BUS 395) with partner organisations. These internships usually run for 20 days, and you can schedule them flexibly — either as a block during university breaks or spread over a few days each week during the semester.
