Bachelor of Business

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Southern Queensland

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business at UniSQ is a friendly, flexible and career-ready degree that gives you a strong grounding in essential business skills while letting you explore areas that match your passion. Whether you’re drawn to finance, marketing, leadership, accounting or tech-driven business systems — this program helps you build the knowledge and confidence to step into the working world with purpose and clarity.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
Your first year gives you a well-rounded foundation in business fundamentals. You’ll study core units like Data Insights and Financial Performance, Fundamental Economics, and Customer Experience, which help you understand how businesses operate, how markets function, and how to think like someone who makes smart decisions. You get a taste of different areas — from economics to marketing and management — so you can start thinking about where your interests lie.

Year 2
In the second year, you begin to specialise. Once you select your major — say Marketing, Finance, or Human Resource Management — you dive deeper into that area. Alongside core courses you continue building, you might explore units tailored to your major (for example in marketing: market research and consumer behaviour; or in finance: commercial finance and financial analysis). Here you start to connect theory with practical business thinking — understanding how companies design strategies, manage resources, or engage customers.

Year 3
Your final year brings everything together. You’ll work on real-world business challenges through projects and case studies, applying all the skills you’ve learned — critical thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership or analytics, depending on your major. You might also have the option (depending on major) to take a second major or add minors — which lets you broaden your skill set and tailor your degree to your ambitions. By the end, you’ll be ready to step confidently into a business role.

Focus Areas
Business Accounting; Emergent Leadership; Finance; Human Resource Management; Information Systems Management; Marketing

Learning Outcomes
Develop strong analytical thinking, effective communication, strategic decision-making and adaptable business skills that prepare you for diverse roles across industries.

Professional Alignment (Accreditation)
Majors such as Human Resource Management and Emergent Leadership are accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute, which means your qualification is recognised in the industry — a strong signal to future employers that you’re ready for professional roles.

Reputation (Employability Rankings)
UniSQ has earned a reputation as a top choice for business education — it's ranked among the best by global university rankings, and graduates from the Business and Management stream enjoy excellent prospects. In fact, UniSQ is #1 in Queensland for business and management graduates in full-time employment and also rated highly for graduate starting salary.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) Bachelor of Business program is designed in a way that really emphasises learning by doing so you graduate not only with theory, but with tangible experience that employers value. From the start, you get exposed to core business skills (data insight, digital disruption, customer experience, leadership, etc.), then as you progress you get to dive deep into one or two majors of your choice — giving you a real sense of what working in that field feels like. On top of that, the program offers realistic, career-facing assignments: you work with mock companies, engage in authentic case studies, and complete a capstone project in your final year to wrap up your learning with a real-world business problem.

Here are the main experiential learning opportunities you’d benefit from in this program:

  • Participation in the “Business Academy” — where you operate with mock companies that simulate real workplace environments, helping you practise corporate operations without risk.

  • Working on authentic case studies drawn from real industry problems — giving you first-hand experience of business challenges and how to approach them strategically.

  • Completing a capstone project in your final year — a substantial piece of work that brings together everything you’ve learned to solve a real business issue, preparing you for graduate-level responsibilities.

  • Flexibility to shape your own path — by choosing two majors (or a major + minors), you get to tailor your learning to reflect the kind of work you want to do, which is great if your interests evolve over time.

  • Multiple modes of study (on-campus, online, part-time, accelerated) — this flexibility lets you manage your time and commitments, while still engaging in meaningful, career-oriented learning.
