Bachelor of Business Professional Practice

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

RMIT University

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business (Professional Practice) at RMIT is a four‑year degree built for students who want more than just theory — you’ll gain real-world experience through internships or apprenticeship-style placements. It’s ideal if you’re driven to shape your career early, blending foundational business studies with hands-on work that brings ideas to life.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll build your business foundations through four carefully chosen courses — Business Decision Making, Understanding the Business Environment, Business in Society, and Integrated Perspectives on Business Problems. You’ll also begin to shape your academic direction, picking majors or minors that align with your interests while getting introduced to problem‑solving and ethical perspectives in business.

Year 2
Once you move into your second year, the Professional Practice element starts to kick in. Alongside core courses like Impact Academy 1a and Developing Professionally, you’ll begin your 96-credit-point professional placement. This is where theory meets action: you may take on a Professional Apprentice role or a structured internship, supported by RMIT and industry partners, while continuing with your major or minor.

Year 3
Your third year is all about deepening your expertise: you continue your major/minor coursework, and you prepare for your capstone. You'll also take Business Graduate Folio (BUSM2582), which brings together what you’ve learned into a professional portfolio — a showcase of your projects, reflections, and real-world experience.

Year 4
This final stretch is flexible. You’ll finish the remaining chunk of your 96 credits of professional practice — whether through full‑time industry placements, apprenticeships, or a mix. By this point, you're not just studying business theory — you’re applying it, building networks, and gaining experience that employers will truly value.
