Bachelor of Business

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of the Sunshine Coast

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) is a three-year full-time degree designed for students who want to build a solid foundation in business — from marketing and management to business law and corporate governance — while keeping their options open. It’s ideal if you envision a career in management, entrepreneurship, marketing, human resources, or just want a versatile business qualification that adapts as your ambitions evolve.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll dive into the essentials of business: you’ll study courses such as Accounting Principles (ACC106), Economics for Business (BUS102), Discovering Management (BUS104) and Marketing Essentials (BUS105). These give you a grounding in how businesses operate, how markets work, and what it takes to manage people and resources. You may also explore Information Systems in Organisations (BUS108) and get introduced to Business Research Methods (BUS101), giving you early exposure to analysis, data, and communication skills — all the fundamentals that all business paths build on.

Year 2
In the second year you begin to deepen your understanding of more complex business ideas. You’ll take courses like Business Law (BUS203) and Business, Governance and Society (BUS320), which help you understand ethics, regulation, and the social impact of business decisions. You’ll also start laying the foundations of your chosen major: whether it’s Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resource Management, or another stream. At this point you begin to shape your learning around your interests and career aims.

Year 3
This is where things start to come alive: you’ll complete core major courses (depending on your specialisation) and also undertake a practical component — a 96-hour internship or industry-facing project. This bridges theory and real-world business: you’ll apply what you’ve learned in real business environments, start working on live problems, and prepare yourself for the world beyond university. It’s also a time to pick electives that suit your interests — giving your degree a personal flavour and flexibility suited to your aspirations.
