This honours program allows you to deepen your knowledge in a chosen science discipline—whether that’s chemistry, computer science, environmental science, agriculture, mathematical sciences, physics, or another field—while also building strong research skills and completing an honours dissertation. Curriculum Structure
This is a one-year, full-time honours program taken after completing a bachelor’s degree. The focus is on advanced study and research rather than the usual Year 1/2/3 structure. To give an idea of how the year unfolds:
Phase 1: You’ll start with advanced coursework in your chosen field, alongside training in research methods and analytical skills. Example units include Research Methods for Science, Advanced Topics in Your Discipline, and Science Professional Practice.
Phase 2: You’ll move into a supervised research project, collecting and analysing data, and preparing your honours dissertation. Units in this phase include Honours Research Project and Honours Dissertation.

High-end research facilities and labs: Work in spaces like the TrEnD Laboratory, featuring robotic sample preparation, sequencing labs, and clean-air “Advanced Clean Environment” labs.
Soil & Landscape Science Lab: Get hands-on experience with field equipment such as soil samplers, portable spectrometers, and laboratory instruments like FT-NIR/MIR spectrometers, crushers, and ovens.
Digital technologies and data analysis tools: Learn to apply scientific methods using modern digital tools and software for data analysis and research.
Research team opportunities: Join projects through the Space Science and Technology Centre (SSTC), contributing to coding, GIS mapping, and statistical modelling in planetary science and Earth-observation contexts.
