Established in 1966, Curtin University is a public research university located at Perth, Western Australia. It is named after John Curtin, the 14th Prime Minister of Australia. The university also operates campuses in Malaysia, Dubai and Singapore. Curtin University is a member of Australian Technology Network (ATN), and is active in research in a range of academic and practical fields.
The university comprises of 5 faculties, each faculty comprises of various schools: Faculty of Business and Law (School of Accounting, School of Economics and Finance, School of Management, School of Marketing and Law School), Faculty of Health Sciences (the Medical School, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science, School of Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Speech Pathology, School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, School of Psychology and School of Public Health); Faculty of Humanities (School of Design and the Built Environment, School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry and School of Education); Faculty of Science and Engineering (School of Earth, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, School of Mines and School of Molecular and Life Sciences); and Centre for Aboriginal Studies.
The total student population at the Curtin University is more than 58,000 of which over 48,000 are enrolled in undergraduate programs. The student to faculty ratio at the university is 19:1.
The Curtin University is the only university in Western Australian to produce a PhD recipient of the AINSE gold medal, which is the highest recognition for PhD-level research excellence in New Zealand and Australia.
