Program Overview

Curriculum Structure
First year
Your first year focuses on building a strong foundation in engineering. Second year

Third year
By the third year, you’ll dive deeper into your mechanical engineering major. You’ll study subjects covering dynamics, fluids, materials, and machine design, while working on team-based projects that mimic real-world engineering challenges. This is where theory meets practice.
Fourth year
In the fourth year, learning becomes more advanced and specialised. You’ll take senior subjects like Engineering Project Appraisal and Designing Sustainable Engineering Projects, complete your second long industry placement, and work on your honours project — a capstone addressing a real engineering challenge.
Fifth year (placement and completion year)
Your fifth year focuses on your second 24-week industry placement and completing professional practice review subjects. By the end of this year, you’ll have polished your professional skills, gained in-depth industry experience, and prepared for a smooth transition into the workforce.

Mechanical systems design, fluid and thermodynamic systems, dynamics and control, manufacturing and materials, professional engineering practice and leadership, two long-term industry placements.
