Program Overview

The Bachelor of Midwifery (Pre-Registration) is for candidates with no previous formal midwifery qualifications or for enrolled nurses who would like to become eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife (refer to Professional recognition/membership for further information). You will: be provided with an introduction to clinical practice together with the scientific basis of midwifery and research skills, communication and maternal and infant assessment; study the history of midwifery and the role of the midwife; develop midwifery skills and focus on family dynamics, nutrition, Indigenous health issues and complexities of childbirth; explore managing practice and working in communities and draw on the knowledge gained in the previous years to demonstrate your ability to work in the role of a Registered Midwife.
