Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of New England Armidale

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours at University of New England is a forward-thinking degree designed to prepare you for a modern healthcare career, combining strong scientific foundations with real clinical application. It is ideal for students interested in medicines, patient care, and healthcare innovation, covering everything from drug development to pharmacy practice in real-world settings.

Curriculum structure

Year 1:
You begin by building a solid scientific base, studying core subjects like Chemistry I (CHEM110), Chemistry II (CHEM120), and Introductory Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. These units introduce you to how medicines are developed and how the human body responds to them, setting the groundwork for future clinical learning.

Year 2:
In the second year, the focus shifts toward deeper pharmaceutical sciences and analytical skills through units such as Analytical Chemistry (CHEM250) and Introductory Microbiology. You start connecting scientific principles with real healthcare applications, especially in drug formulation and disease understanding.

Year 3:
This year integrates science with clinical practice. You explore areas like pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacy practice while completing practical experience hours in pharmacies. This ensures you understand how medications are dispensed, managed, and used in real patient care environments.

Year 4:
In your final year, you transition into advanced clinical learning and research. You undertake clinical placements in community and hospital pharmacies and complete an independent Honours research project, allowing you to specialise and develop critical thinking for evidence-based practice.
