Curriculum Structure

Year 1:
In your first year, you build a strong foundation in the Australian legal system and the principles that underpin modern law. Through courses such as LAW1111 Australian Legal System, LAW1115 Legal History, and LAW1116 Contract, you learn how laws are created, interpreted, and applied while developing essential legal research and writing skills. Students also begin exploring legal liability and criminal justice through LAW1121 Criminal Law and Procedure and LAW1126 Torts.

Year 2:
The second year focuses on public law and the legal frameworks governing society, government, and property rights. Subjects including LAW2211 Constitutional Law, LAW2221 Administrative Law, and LAW2214 Property deepen your understanding of government powers, legal rights, and land ownership. You will also examine international legal systems through LAW2222 Public International Law and explore broader legal philosophies in LAW2224 Theories of Law.

Year 3:
In the final year, you develop advanced professional competencies and can tailor your studies through specialised electives. Core courses such as LAW3311 Company Law, LAW3312 Lawyers' Ethics, and LAW3321 Evidence prepare you for legal practice, while electives such as Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Law, Intellectual Property Law, Advocacy, Family Law, or Law and Justice Placement allow you to explore areas aligned with your career goals. The program concludes with LAW3322 Civil Procedure, providing practical insight into litigation and court processes.
