4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
Monash’s Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts is ideal for students who want a strong scientific foundation while also building the communication, cultural understanding, critical thinking and analytical skills developed through arts, humanities and social sciences. The course is especially valuable for students interested in combining science with areas such as communication, policy, society, languages, philosophy, history, sustainability, psychology, data, research or public engagement.
Curriculum structure
Year 1:
Students begin by building the base for both degrees through two approved level 1 science sequences and introductory arts study. This year allows students to explore their science direction while also starting their Arts major studies and Discipline studies, giving them a balanced foundation across scientific and human-centred learning.
Year 2:
Students move into deeper science major study at level 2 while adding skills-based units that strengthen data, communication and scientific reasoning. The course map includes options such as SCI1020, SCI1022, STA1010, MTH1020, MTH1030 or MTH1035, along with SCI1000 Science Communication to Influence Change, while arts learning continues through Major studies and Professional Futures units.
Year 3:
Students progress into advanced science major units and level 2 or 3 science electives, helping them build stronger technical knowledge in their chosen scientific field. At the same time, the arts side continues through Major studies and Professional Futures units, supporting employability, communication and professional identity.
Year 4:
In the final year, students complete level 3 science major units, advanced science electives and further arts major and discipline studies. This stage allows students to graduate with both specialised scientific knowledge and the broader analytical, social and communication skills that make the double degree useful across research, policy, education, communication, community, government and industry pathways.
