Monash University History

Monash University was founded in 1958 by an Act of the Victorian State Parliament as a result of the Murray Report, which was commissioned in 1957 by then-Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies to establish Victoria's second university.

Monash University Campuses

  The Monash University has campuses all over the world. Monash University's Clayton campus is the university's main campus, which is located in Clayton, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This campus is the largest of the Monash University campuses, both in terms of size and student population, with an area of approximately 1.1 km2. The Clayton Campus had around 41,000 students as of 2017. This campus houses a research centre, library, housing facilities, sports facilities, a medical facility, as well as various eateries, cafés, and retail businesses and so on.

Monash University Library has multiple libraries on all of its campuses, which span three continents. There are roughly 3.2 million items in the library. The Rare Books Collection of the Sir Louis Matheson Library, which is located on Monash University's Clayton main campus, contains over 100,000 items. The collection presently includes photography, children's books, English and French literature from the 15th to 17th centuries, authentic manuscripts, and pamphlets. Throughout the year, the Rare Books department hosts a variety of exhibitions.
