Program Overview

In this program, you ll learn the fundamentals of composing while writing works for various ensembles. For third and fourth year, you ll study one-on-one with composition faculty members, exploring a variety of styles and mediums, including electronic and new media. A weekly composers seminar will cover a range of interests pertaining to your work. In your final year, you ll undertake a major project, which may be a work for a larger ensemble, a work of extended duration or a collaborative work in film, theatre, gaming or opera.

Grade 12 / High School, TOEFL iBT of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component, IELTS of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band, MELAB of 85 overall or higher, CAEL of 70 overall or higher (each band 60 or higher), PTE of 59 overall or higher, CAE of overall score of 176, Transcripts, Course Descriptions and Syllabi, IB at 24, Minimum 75% average, English at 60%, Audition, Theory and Ear Training Test, Interview with a Faculty Member, Portfolio (Optional), a recent video recording
