Program Overview

The Honours Arts and Business program at the University of Waterloo offers a dynamic blend of humanities and business education. Students choose from over 28 arts majors—including Economics, Psychology, Legal Studies, English, and Fine Arts—while completing a business core of 14 courses covering accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, ethics, and communication. This dual-focus structure equips graduates with the critical thinking of an arts education and the strategic mindset of business.

Waterloo’s co-op option provides up to 20 months of paid, industry-relevant work experience, making it one of North America's most integrated experiential learning opportunities. Flexible pathways allow students to pursue double majors, minors, or even study abroad. Personalized advising supports tailored academic and career planning.

Course Overview

  • Year 1: Introduction to Business in North America, Introduction to Microeconomics, Accounting Information for Managers, Professional and Business Ethics, along with optional modules
  • Years 2–5 may include: Entrepreneurship Principles and Practices, International Business, Principles of Marketing

 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Up to 5 co-op work terms with top employers (e.g., TIFF, PepsiCo, BMO)

  • Study abroad and exchange programs available

  • Custom co-op work-study sequence alternating every 4 months
