Waterloo’s Management Engineering program is Canada’s only accredited undergraduate degree of its kind, combining engineering principles with business optimization, software development, data science, and human-centred systems design. Students learn how to make better decisions using machine learning, AI, operations research, and UX principles, preparing them for roles across tech, consulting, supply chain, and analytics.
This interdisciplinary degree is deeply rooted in systems thinking, supported by Waterloo’s renowned co-op program, which offers up to six paid work terms and two years of real-world experience. The curriculum evolves from foundational engineering to advanced topics in software systems, optimization, and organizational behavior, making it a powerful alternative to software or industrial engineering with a broader business systems focus.
