Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is the variety of all species on earth. It is the different plants, animals and micro-organisms, their genes, and the terrestrial, marine and freshwater ecosystems of which they are a part. This module develops scientific understanding of global biological diversity, the threats to its existence, and methods for its conservation. Solid grounding in systematics, genetics, ecology, and field biology provides a foundation for advanced courses and hands-on experiences in conservation and restoration.
