Program Overview

Geocomputational Science is the theory and practice that provides the foundation for the development and application of many geospatial technologies. It is a combination of analytical geography and computing science. Students who have grounding in both the geographical and computational disciplines, and can integrate these areas, are much sought after in industry, government and research organizations. It is a major part of the geomatics industry that Industry Canada has identified as a major component of the information technology sector. Any organization with spatially extensive resources and operations requires geocomputational expertise to manage and analyze the spatial data essential to an enterprise's decision making.
