Program Overview

Students in Nipissing's Liberal Arts program enjoy the flexibility of being able to design their own degree. Nipissing's Liberal Arts program emphasizes breadth rather than specialization and allows individuals to develop a program that is suited to their personal interests and goals.Students in the Liberal Arts program complete a minor (18 credits) in each of the two disciplines of their choice. One discipline will be in an academic area from the Humanities or Social Science groups. The second discipline will be chosen from the Humanities, Business, Science or Social Science groups.Students who are interested in a wide-range of disciplines, and would like to focus on several of them, should consider this degree since it provides the flexibility to satisfy a curiosity about a number of different fields of study.

Additional Information & Requirements

To graduate with a second degree in a three-year Bachelor degree program (General, Liberal, Bachelor of Commerce), a student must:Complete a minimum of 45 credits with a minimum overall average of 60%,Complete a minimum of 30 credits in the area of study with program average of 60% (based on the best 30 credits which meet all of the requirements of the subject of study);In the case of a Bachelor of Arts (Liberal), or a Bachelor of Science (Liberal) second degree, complete a minimum of 12 credits in each of two minors and maintain a minimum overall average of 60% in each minor;Satisfy all the stated requirements for the program not completed in the first degree;In the case of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science second degree, complete six credits from each the following areas if they have not done so in their first degree:Humanities (Group I)Social Sciences (Group II) and/or Professional Studies (Group IV)Sciences (Group III)Maintain all minimum grade requirements and all minimum average requirements specified in the general regulations for the specified degree.
