Program Overview

Biochemists work to understand the structure of cells and how they function at the molecular level. They look at the role of these macromolecules in metabolic pathways, how the pathways are controlled, and the consequences of genetic or metabolic disruption. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology can lead to work in mass producing chemicals that are usually found in the body in tiny amounts, mapping the human genetic code, or creating genetically engineered crops that are more resistant to adverse weather conditions, spoilage, disease, and pests.

Final grade of 70% in Grade 11 or Grade 12 English (or equivalent course, including provincial examinations where applicable), Graduation from high school with a minimum average of 70%, UAE Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-Amma). Certificates must be official, Grades required for admission will vary by program, but based on the UAE grading scale, the minimum average needed to fall within the competitive range is approximately 84% on a 60% pass-scale, Test scores: IELTS of 6.5, with no part less than 6.0, TOEFL iBT of 90.
