Year 1: You'll be completing core courses such as Biodiversity, Evolution and Humanity (BIOLOGY 1M03), Cellular and Molecular Biology (BIOLOGY 1A03), Calculus for the Life Sciences I (MATH 1LS3), Introductory Chemistry I & II (CHEM 1A03 & 1AA3), Introductory Physics (PHYSICS 1A03), Climate, Water and Environment (ENVIRSC 1C03), and Introduction to Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PSYCH 1X03), as well as electives. This year provides a broad scientific foundation and introduces you to hands-on labs and interactive lectures.
Year 2: You will further develop your foundation with courses in genetics, statistics, and physiology, such as Genetics, Statistics for the Life Sciences, and Human or Animal Physiology. You will also be able to take electives in fields like health sciences, psychology, or environmental studies, so you can start to define your area of interest.
Year 3: Advanced coursework covers topics like molecular biology, neuroscience, and specialized life sciences electives. You’ll have opportunities for research practicums, applied placements, or co-op experiences, and can start to focus on areas such as disease origins, sensory motor systems, or environmental sciences.
Year 4: Your fourth year is dedicated to independent research, seminars, and graduate-level electives. You have the option of choosing a research project, thesis, or experiential learning placement, with close consultation with faculty or industry partners.
