BS Geophysics

Geophysics is an Earth Sciences discipline that uses physical measurements and physico-mathematical models to explore,analyze and understand the structure and dynamics of our planet,including its interior,the ocean and the atmosphere. The complexity of the Earth system,along with the inherent difficulty of observing and measuring large-scale natural processes,poses formidable challenges that geophysicists attempt to solve by integrating theory with numerical modeling and data acquisition acquired with sophisticated measurement systems. The program provides its students with a solid foundation in physics and mathematics,as well as fundamental aspects of geophysics.Earthquakes,tsunamis,climate change,who understands the behavior of nature Geophysicists do it better than anyone,thanks to their experimental training in phenomena related to the structure,physics and evolution of the Earth.Their job is to understand how nature works,to describe and explain the dynamics of the ocean,the atmosphere and the Earth's crust,the forces that move them and their interactions,using cutting-edge technology. These scientists integrate theory with numerical modeling,and use sophisticated measurement systems to collect data.
