Program Overview

The bachelor's study program History of Art is designed so that students learn everything essential about the development of art from antiquity to the 20th century, both in Europe and in the Czech lands, during the mandatory lectures. In practical exercises, students acquire the basic skills of the historian's craft, such as professional terminology and its practical use in the description and interpretation of a work of art, they become familiar with working with literary sources, historical sources and archival funds. They will get to know the basic principles of restoration of monuments and museum education. The History of Art Culture study program with a focus on education is used to prepare for a follow-up master's program leading to the qualification of a teacher for secondary schools.
