University of Ostrava History

University of Ostrava was established in the year 1991. It is a public university which is situated in Ostrava in Czech Republic. Its roots were kept in 1953 as a training college for future primary school teachers. But later on with the development of other faculties, it became the research university in general.

University of Ostrava Programs, Courses and Schools

University of Ostrava is organised into six academic faculties and two institutes. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral courses to the students in various disciplines of study. Other programs offered include distance education, follow-up master’s, research, study abroad and interdisciplinary courses.

Faculties of the university are skilled and highly qualified in their field of study. Student to faculty ratio is low. It is a research and Innovation University offering students with research based programs and is recognised for it.

University of Ostrava Campuses

University of Ostrava has got urban campus with modern and secure infrastructure. Students have the facilities like canteen, book store, recreational area, auditorium, cultural centre, stadium, athletic courts, academic buildings, help centre and innovation centre. Student clubs and organisations are there which organises various events, workshops and activities. Student media includes periodicals, video channel and press releases.

University library is the home to pile of books, journals, catalogues, archives, research guides, publications, periodicals and papers. Students have access to study rooms, help centre, databases, electronic resources, computer systems and internet facilities.
