Palacky University

Program Overview

The core of the course is subjects representing the basic concepts of film theory and history from the creation of film to the present. Theoretical knowledge of the field is presented in the broader context of artistic disciplines (aesthetics, literary studies). Attention is paid to the presentation of film as art, but a substantial part of the study is also focused on the reflection of cinematography as an industry and socio-political phenomenon. In this way, students will receive preparation for critical analysis and dramaturgical evaluation of film works, research into film history and industrial practice.
